How does it work?

The treatment uses scientifically proven non-invasive ultrasound technology to break down unwanted fat. Focused ultrasound energy selectively targets fat cells in the chosen body area without harming surrounding tissues such as nerves or blood vessels.

What happens to the fat?

During the Ultrashape™ treatment, the membranes of the fat cells are disrupted. The fat cell content, primarily comprised of triglycerides, is dispersed into the fluid between the cells and then transported through the vascular and lymphatic systems to the liver. The liver makes no distinction between fat coming from the Ultrashape™ treatment and fat originating from consumed food. Both are processed by the body’s natural mechanisms.

What makes this a unique treatment?

Body contouring with the Ultrashape™ delivers circumference reduction in target body areas, without pain, and provides the following benefit.

• Non-invasive: the procedure is totally non-invasive and reduces the circumference of the treated area with no need for anaesthesia.
• Safe: the focused ultrasound energy targets fat tissue, and does not affect the surrounding blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue.
• Effective: a multi-centre controlled clinical study demonstrated measurable circumference reduction in most patients after a single treatment. In independent studies and commercial use, multiple treatments have shown incremental circumference reduction and high patient satisfaction.

How does the Ultrashape™ technology work?

The Ultrashape™ uses a patented ultrasonic transducer to deliver controlled focused ultrasound at a precise depth within the subcutaneous tissue and is designed to target and disrupt only adipose tissue, leaving surrounding structures such as skin, blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue intact.

What will I experience during treatment?

The treatment is performed in our Malvern rooms by a fully qualified registered nurse. It will begin with the nurse examining and marking the area to be treated. The size of the treatment area determines the duration of the session which can last between one to one and half hours. During treatment, a hand-held device delivering ultrasound energy gently glides over the marked area. The treatment does not require anaesthesia. The majority of treated patients consistently report a painless comfortable experience. The entire treatment is guided by an advanced tracking technology to ensure smooth and even contouring results.

What happens after the treatment?

After treatment is complete, patients are able to return to daily activities as usual. Treatments ideally should be 3-4 weeks apart. As part of the clinical trial Dr Lanzer is performing, patients will have an accent treatment between each Ultrashape™ treatment. Dr Lanzer will then review patients after the full course of treatments is complete. For a week after each Ultrashape™ treatment, it is very important to maintain a negative calorie intake through diet and exercise. Doing this will enhance the overall results.

What results can I expect?

In a multi-centre controlled clinical trial, an average of 2cm reduction in circumference was achieved after a single treatment of the abdomen, outer thighs or flanks. In independent studies and in commercial use, multiple treatments have shown incremental circumference reduction and high patient satisfaction. Afer 3 treatments this may mean a loss of 5 to 6 cm

Clinical Trial-2008

Dr Lanzer is currently the key investigator for Ultrashape™ and is conducting a clinical trial combining the Ultrashape™ with the Accent Fat Blaster. Accent Fat Blaster uses radio frequency which heats up the treated area which commences the breakdown of fat.
