NECK LIPOSCULPTURE

One of the most common areas for liposculpture is the neck area.
Many women and some men notice that with age there is an accumulation of fat under their chin.
Often patients call this the “turkey neck”. There is no reason as to why this develops but many patients do notice that it generally runs in families.
Background
There are several types of Liposuction procedures. Liposculpture involves shaping and refining at the same time as suctioning the unwanted excess fat and is usually done through very small incisions in concealed areas.
The “double-chin” area of the face and neck can be improved by Liposculpture. Targeting the neck fat, wrinkles and lax skin. Neck Liposculpture can leave you with a sculptured, contoured neckline this may enhance your facial profile.
How does it work
One of the most amazing facts regarding neck liposuction is that very heavy and sagging necks can get a tremendous improvement without the need for cutting surgery. By removing all of the fat under the skin in the neck we can get the skin to generally retract in and tighten. Infact the excess skin is now needed to line the undersurface of the jaw line. All ages can benefit from this approach but generally women have skin that contacts a little better.
Dr Lanzer can help you achieve a better profile this procedure is done on both men and women of all ages giving you a more refined jawline as you had in your youth, with generally noticeable results making you appear younger and slimmer.
Performing the procedure
Dr Lanzer makes a small incision to suction the unwanted fat, this is made by a very small incision approx 2-3mm wide. The procedure takes between 30 minutes to an hour. The patient can be lightly sedated or awake and most patients can generally be back to work within a few days.
Dr Lanzer will instruct you to wear a neck garment to retract the skin area, you will have slight post operative bruising this helps to tighten the skin area.
Dr Lanzer often performs this procedure in conjunction with other procedures such as Face Makeover or Liposuction on other areas of the body.
Common questions
Liposculpture helps remove troubled area such as loose, sagging skin and excess fat from the neck. If you can hold fat then it can be removed.
Scarring does not usually occur other than the two tiny incision marks under the jaw.
There may be a little bit of weeping of fluid from the nicks as with all forms of liposuction. The area will be slightly bruised or swollen. Everyone has some numbness and swelling that may feel hard. This generally resolves in time.
Dr Lanzer has been performing liposuction of the neck and joules for nearly 20 years and he has not see this as a complication.
Dr Lanzer believes that it is one of the most important procedures to make one look younger. A tight neck line portrays youthfulness compared to a sagging neck. It can make a significant difference.
Dr Lanzer’s personal experience is that liposuction of the neck produces a long lasting result. It is very rare that he needs to repeat it.
Dr Lanzer may perform a suture lift so the face is lifted with the neck. It also works well with laser resurfacing of the wrinkles. When Dr Lanzer performs his full body liposuction the neck is often included.
Most patients wear it for 2 – 3 days.
