LIPOSCULPTURE

Dr Lanzer was “First in Australia” to introduce this procedure known as Vaser Hi Definition Liposculpture.
Hi-Definition Liposculpture may create athletic grooves in the stomach area to highlight the muscles, Dr Lanzer has been featured on television a number of times discussing this procedure. Please view our TV highlights section on this website to review these stories.
Vaser Hi Def (VHD) is an advanced body sculpting procedure that combines leading edge technology with state of the art surgical techniques, resulting in a naturally sculpted high “definition” appearance.
Many people complain that they go to the gym, eat right, and maintain an active healthy lifestyle, but still have trouble achieving the muscle definition they desire around their stomach. Vaser Hi Def is a revolutionary new cosmetic technique designed to selectively remove small deposits of fat surrounding specific muscle groups (abs, pecs, glutes, lats, etc) in order to enhance the visibility of the natural muscle contour.
The technique focuses on the precise removal of superficial and deep fat around the muscle groups in order to enhance the visibility of the underlying musculature to help the patient look and feel their best .
Dr Lanzer was the”first doctor in Australia” to travel overseas and receive hands on training in the Vaser Hi Def Liposculpture method by the surgeons who discovered the method. Since then, Dr Lanzer has refined his own method, based on his personal experience of 10,000 Liposuction cases, which allows him to create a muscular and athletic appearance in the abdomen of both men and women.
Dr Lanzer has further developed this concept and found that the procedure can be used on both athletic patients who work out at the gym who just find it hard to achieve or keep their “athletic stomach look” as well as overweight patients who want more definition and a muscular look.
VASER ® Hi Def Liposculpture is the realization of anatomy and art, utilizing these techniques, and technology. Dr Lanzer, recognizes how the anatomy of skin, fat and muscle contributes to the sculptured appearance of the human form. This technique that he has developed shows ways of accentuating each of these structures, contribution to the sculpted body, not by a new exercise program, but in this technique of VASER ® Hi Def Liposculpture. Technology, in the use of the third generation ultrasound device called Vaser that helps soften fat and allow for more easy sculpturing.
The rectus abdominus is topographically visualized as the linea alba, linea semilunaris, and the transverse tendinous intersections within the rectus abdominous muscle. These landmarks are enhanced with localized superficial liposuction to deepen the natural grooves or furrows. This demand for greater precision in liposuction has developed into the more exact and complex technique referred to as Hi Def liposculpture.
The term ‘liposculpture’ first appeared in 1991 and was described as a technique that “shapes the body by removing fat cells in areas where there is excess fat and/or by adding fat cells to areas where additional padding is desired”.
It’s a highly surgeon-dependent procedure in that the results depend largely on the skill and the ‘aesthetic eye’ of the surgeon. The surface anatomy is an accurate reflection of the disposition and development of the abdominal wall muscles, specifically the rectus abdominis, obliquus abdominis, and serratus magnus muscles. In addition, definition of the male chest contributes to the topography of the anterior view in the male. The lumbosacral curve and gluteal anatomy contributes to the posterior topography in the female. Recognizing the surface anatomy is highly important in that it is the blueprint of actual beauty. Reproducing this surface anatomy by liposculpture may create a highly muscular body in both males and females. All of these act as the blueprint for VASER ® Hi Def Liposculpture.
VASER ® Hi Def Liposculpture uses deep, superficial and transitioning liposculpture techniques in specific anatomical areas, namely over the rectus abdominus, serratus magnus, external obliques, pectoralis major, inguinal ligaments, and in the sacral area, to create a more natural muscular appearance of the human form. Intramuscular autologous fat transfer in the areas that need more volume (e.g. the pectorals in males or the gluteal region in females) have also helped patients to achieve their goal of a more athletic, muscular appearance. VASER ® Hi Def LipoSculpture recognizes how the anatomy of skin, fat and muscle control one’s appearance by defining the fat overlying these structures, contributing to the highly defined sculptured appearance of the human form.
Hi – Definition Areas
Male:
- Stomach- athletic look
- Side chest
- Outer arms
- Abs, oblique, lats
Women:
- Athletic stomach groove
- Lower back
- Calves & arms
Dr Lanzer’s current experience is that he uses this method in many of the liposuctions that he performs in both men and women. The goal may be slightly different with different patients, but the concept is the same. It has been a major and significant breakthrough in his practice.
Advantages of the Tumescent Method:
- Numbs the area so that the procedure does not necessarily require a general anaesthetic and post surgery discomfort is reduced.
- Seals the blood vessels so that there is little or no bleeding, resulting in safer liposuction and less bruising. There is generally no need for intravenous ‘drips’ or blood transfusions.
- Softens the fat so that it comes out smoothly and evenly, allowing much greater amounts of fat to be removed safely.
- The fluid used is anti-bacterial so that infection is extremely rare.
- New techniques have resulted in many more patients requesting this treatment.
- Allows superficial liposuction method and removal of the fat tissue with a limited incision size.
Possible Complications / Risks of Liposuction
With any surgery there are risks. Infection is the most serious risk but is extremely rare due to the antiseptic tumescent fluid, pre-operative antibiotics are given to each patient. There will be swelling and bruising and some soreness and pain.
