Muscle Relaxants
Facial muscle relaxant is a substance injected in small amounts into a muscle to cause temporary weakness or paralysis. They works by temporarily relaxing those muscles of the face, that create “worry” or “frown” lines through a state of chronic contraction. It is administered with a very small needle inserted directly into the muscle. Muscle Relaxing Injections are used to treat wrinkles across the forehead, furrows between the eyebrows and “crows feet” lines.
Commonly treated areas include:
Crows feet on the sides of the eyes, the glabella frown lines and the horizontal forehead lines. More recently lip lines from pursing the mouth and down turned corners of the mouth are treated. It is also used for eliminating excessive sweating under the arms and prominent muscle bands on the neck
Muscle relaxants aren’t just for wrinkles, we also use these for non cosmetic procedures such as hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating usually in the underarms palms or soles. We also treat some patients for headaches.
This procdure can be combined with other cosmetic procedures to assist with face rejuvenation, such as laser, filler, suture lift, neck liposuction, and also some of our beauty treatments in our new Medi Day Spa. Speak to our helpful staff for more details.
Dr Lanzer often finds that muscle relaxants immediately after an erbium face resurfacing enhances the result and the length of the result.
