From The Doctors Room - 2010

Monday, December 7th, 2009

As has been typical in the field of cosmetic surgery and cosmetic medicine
there has been further significant developments again during this year.

The most exciting new approach in surgery has surely been the Hi Def
Liposculpture
method where I am able to produce the “six pack” look in men
and the sexy groove on the outside of the stomach in women. I learnt this
method with an exclusive group who travelled from America for a hand on
meeting in Japan and since have done hundreds of cases. This new
breakthrough was feature on two occasions on the Today Tonight program on Channel 7.

The Vaser, third generation ultrasound machine is combined with our
liposuction to help soften fat and tighten skin. Man boobs and large
stomachs do particularly well.

We are proud to announce the opening of our new MediDay Spas located in
Malvern, Glen Waverley, Bentleigh, Ballarat, Werribee and Geelong. The
approach is to combine the latest medical technology and advances with the most update beauty therapy treatments. This is ideal for face rejuvenation, pore cleansing, removal of face pigmentation and spots, body fat and cellulite and general relaxation therapies. I was featured this year on
Today Tonight regarding the non invasive treatments, especially in younger
patients.

New non surgical treatments include:

A new breakthrough has been our first laser for acne and deep pore
cleansing- the Isolaz. Its new and unique suction simultaneous with the
laser extrudes the bacteria and sebum. When combined with the Profusion
creams it is also very effective as an antiaging device on the underlying
collagen. This therapy was filmed by A Current Affairs of Channel 9.

The Velashape is the latest body smoothing treatment that combines
radiofrequency, infrared and deep rolling massage. It is very helpful after
liposculpture and also for cellulite and fat reshaping together with the
Ultrashape.

The Vibrasauna also helps with weight loss and cellulite and is a great
relaxation.

Our expert beauticians also offer relaxing massages, Danna Enzyme facials
and body wraps.

The new Voluma injection gives shape and youthfulness to the cheeks and last about 18 months.

This year The Today Tonight program also interviewed me with three most
interesting sisters. The eldest had done so well with the cosmetic surgery
makeover so her two sisters decided to follow her. The program showed their great results and also how they interacted.

An Interesting Update On Cellulite

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Cellulite is a skin condition caused by enlarged fat cells that become trapped in an inflexible network of fibrous septae located in the hypodermis. Women more often suffer from cellulite because their subcutaneous fat layer is separated by thin vertical columns in contrast to the crisscross network that is found in men. In women with cellulite, these columns contain enlarged cells, and their design allows herniation to be more visible on the skin’s surface .

Cellulite appears when fat cells just under the skin swell or enlarge and the once flexible collagen bands become rigid and firm and no longer stretch properly. This cell structure change is what causes the dimpled
skin known as cellulite.

Contrary to popular belief, the formation of cellulite does not result from poor diet, lack of exercise or increased body fat; cellulite can be apparent on very lean and toned females as well. Instead, several genetic and physical factors contribute to the formation of cellulite.

These include:

Hormonal Factors – Hormones, not exercise or diet, primarily regulate fat storage and metabolism in the subcutaneous fat layer.
Vascular Changes – Increased deposition of GAGs (glycosaminoglycans) exerts pressure on the capillary walls, which leads to vessel permeability and excess fluid in the dermis, adipocytes and lobes of the fibrous septae. The ensuing edema results in vascular compression, decreased venous return and less oxygenation of the tissue in the fibrous septae.
Connective Tissue Changes – When the fibrous septae housing the enlarged fat cells becomes stiff and cannot stretch, herniation of subcutaneous fat cells extrudes into the dermis, causing bumps and dimpling.
Studies show that 85-98% of post-pubertal women suffer from some degree of cellulite. However, with the lack of proven treatments available, many practitioners and patients are looking for a solution they can trust and believe in. SmoothShapes® employs a scientific approach to the cellulite dilemma.

There are many different approaches to cellulite. Our Mediday spa team offers a combination of enzyme creams and wraps and the new velashape combined therapy. Dr Lanzer finds that often the cellulite is improved with liposculpture as it thins the deep fatty layer and breaks up some of the tightened fibrous bands. Nevertheless there is no gaurentte that liposculpture can remove cellulite and therefore he preffers to perform liposculpture for unwanted fat and have the skin result as a possible bonus!

Dr Lanzer anounces his new VIBROSAUN

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

VIBROSAUN
What is the Vibrosaun:

Vibrosaun is the result of a long and intensive study by a group of highly qualified people: A medical practitioner, a chiropractor, an osteopath, a physiotherapist and a design engineer, It was the intent of this group to create a simple, economical and universal machine that would as near as possible, stimulate exercise without putting stress on the body. This has not only been achieved, but the benefits derived by the users of the vibrosaun have been overwhelming.

Conceived by Laurie Hardie in 1985. The Vibrosaun is simply a state of the art- therapeutic dry sauna. A self contained unit consisting of a padded vibrating bed with dry heat circulated throughout the unit.
Cooling negative ion charged air is fed onto the patients face. Stereophonic music and aromatherapy is integrated into the head rest area. All functions can be controlled from within the unit by the user, i.e degree of heat, degree of vibration and velocity of negative ion charged air onto the face can all be controlled by the user or can be preset to suit each individuals personal requirements.

The vibrosaun combines sauna and vibration in a reclining position and stimulates the effect of exercising or massage. The vibration is set to a frequency believed to be acceptable to the subconscious, therefore reducing stress by promoting mental and physical relaxation particularly when combined with a suitable selection of music or therapeutic CDs played through the built in speakers. The vibrating bed allows the user to maintain a degree of muscle tone and fitness in a gentle and soothing way.

How the Vibrosaun works:

The vibrosaun relaxes the muscles whilst the introduction of heat dilates the blood vessels. Thereby increasing the heart and pulse rate. This, in turn increases the blood flow and intake of oxygen. The body cells use oxygen to burn up carbohydrates, such as starch, etc. And then burn up the fat cells. It also accelerates the kidney function in the removal of lactic acids and the body wastes. A healthier body must result.

What can Vibrosaun do?

Weightloss:

Because the vibration relaxes the muscles and stimulates movement, even this in itself contributes in a minor way to the burning up of calories, then as the dry heat is introduced and the body temperature increases, this dilates the blood vessels and increases circulation, intake of oxygen and of course increases the heart and pulse rate, when the circulation is increased at this time, we believe the body receives signals from the brain and releases the stored up energy exactly the same as it does when the circulation is increased per medium of physical exercise.

The Vibrosaun has proven to be a very effective method in assisting with weight reduction. The machine may be programmed to stimulate the effects if a stimulating jog without the harmful side effects. Best results are combined with Liposuction for body contouring.

Cellulite:

The Vibrosaun could have been called the ‘Cellulite Buster”. All of its key features and effects are generally considered the major factors in cellulite reduction. Many Vibrosaun users have reported rapid reduction in unsightly cellulite.

Arthritis Relief:

Because the heat dilates the blood vessels and increases the circulation, the kidney function is improved thereby filtering out toxins, including lactic acid. Lactic acid can build up in the joints causing arthritis and in fact people using Vibrosaun regularly, have reported complete relief from pain that accompanies arthritis.

Stress and Insomnia:

Once again, the relaxing vibration coupled with the heat and increased circulation lull the body into a sense of deep relaxation and serenity.

Back Ache:

The relaxing vibration combined with the heat, not only relaxes the muscle but as the user is in a recumbent position, the vertebra are separated allowing the dilated blood to flow unobstructed throughout the spinal column as the blood nurtures every tissue in the body.

It is our belief that when pain is registered in the back, the brain sends a message to the appropriate muscles to contract restricting the blood flow and putting pressure on the nervous system, the more the muscle contract, the more other muscles contract in sympathy resulting in back ache, therefore the relaxing of the muscles and increased circulation, combined with the heat and relaxed state of mind encouraged by the negative ion charged air, the soothing music and aromatherapy, relief and accelerated healing result.
